Following its premiere in May, Ramesh Meyyappan presents his new work Snails & Ketchup, a small-scale solo performance aimed at adult (10+) audiences. It is supported by an Unlimited Commission for the Cultural Olympiad and is a major move in Ramesh’s career, involving new aerial performance techniques and an extended creative team.

Snails & Ketchup
Inspired by Italo Calvino’s ‘Baron in the Trees’, Snails & Ketchup is the darkly comic tale of a dysfunctional family. A frenzied and disappointed son takes to the trees to live an “arboreal existence” in disgust at his ever-changing home and brutal environment.

Snails & Ketchup is a dark work powerfully told by solo performer Ramesh Meyyappan’s masterful storytelling. Using physical performance, an ingenious aerial set and aerial choreography, projections and a live score played by David Paul Jones, the story poignantly highlights that despite familial love being unconditional, it is not always possible.
